Side note: took Diplomat home 3 weeks later, fare has increased 50% since last trip in February. Would have Ubered were it not for broken foot.
Day of ride was called by a driver, said first scheduled driver had flat tire. 2nd driver needed my address, and, given it, was unable to find in in GPS. Others do not have this problem.
I'll never use these guys again as the entire experience was a nightmare.
Absolutely appalling behavior from driver who shouted at me when I gave him my address saying he had no GPS and to give him EXACT instructions. Continued to be obnoxious and frightening the whole trip home with me terrified, having to give him exact turnings even though the trip from SRQ to village green in Bradenton is well known and not Outer Mongolia. The worse part is that he broke wind during the 20 min ride and frankly, it was beyond disgusting. Add to this the fact that they charge twice what Uber would charge - I definitely and wholeheartedly recommend you STAY CLEAR of this company.
If I could give a zero star review I would. I called the day before my 6 am flight to ensure I had a ride to the airport. Roger called me the night before saying he found my location on the GPS and passed it on to the driver Gary and he'd be there in the morning by 4:30 am.
Because it was so early and of my location being farther than he originally expected, my rate went up. I agreed because I need a ride and he said if there was an issue the driver would call me.
For two years they've had broken credit card machines. The drivers will write your number down on a piece of paper with all of your information and personal details and then you have to trust him to protect the piece of paper and not use your credit card debit card or not let he paper get into the wrong hands. I would highly recommend using another company because other companies use real credit card machines like Square or the unit inside the car.
Call was received 15 minutes after cab was scheduled to arrive, told was on the road to me. Asked how that could be if he had not known my address, he said he actually was still at airport taxi stand. Ride would thus have been too late to be comfortable, cancelled taxi and got ride from friend who serendipitously dropped by.
For 2+ years straight now diplomat taxi has not had the credit card machines hooked up, the only install them in the cars so that it looks like they can use them but in fact they write your number down which puts all of the risk on you and cards get stolen left and right
Not good experience June 25 2017. Called day before to schedule ride to airport, dispatcher did not seem competent or professional.
Totally disrespectful driver was drunk at the anchor ran on the beach Holmes Beach we unlocked his car and he said he wasn't going to pay us and sped off drunk driving a diplomat taxi car , Please don't bother using this company their drivers are not from this country and they're totally disrespectful and very violent.
I called twice and the dispatcher could care less if I got picked up, didn't have any info for me and said they would try to reach the driver. Luckily I was able to get an Uber driver who showed up in less than five minutes and got me to the airport by 5:20 for my 6 am flight .
