I loved my mooose hamburger. Cozy, casual and historic place. Staff are great. I enjoyed looking all the pictures they have there.
Today was my first trip to Bob's Train. It was a train dinning car made into a restaurant. It's very nicely done. We had the poor luck to come in behind a group with about 15 kids ranging from totlers to 10. This caused it to take about an hour before we got our food.in the meantime. The adults let the kids run up and down the aisle. The yelling and screaming of the kids ruined our visit One little guy actually crawled under our chairs!. The food was good but it wasn't the experience I had hoped for. I may try and go back.. after school starts.
This is somewhere you go to eat if you are looking for an experience. There are two dining cars, but typically only one is open for seating. You will meet a waitress and Bob himself. That's it. Expect to wait longer than usual for your meal because Bob is the only cook and enjoys conversation with guest between orders. If you enjoy learning about interesting people with fascinating stories, you will love Bob. He has seriously done and seen everything, including every possible job you can think of and holds 19 licenses! Total the restaurant is 3 train cars long and a never ending project for Bob. The first car is full of four-chaired tables and lined with photos. The second car is very narrow and full of photos and memorabilia from American circus history. The last car is a dining car with option for group reservations. Highly recommend for a unique dining experience. Make sure to double check hours of operation before visiting.
Stay away from this place. Food is terrible, (burgers and sandwiches for dinner, really?) the owner is the only cook in the kitchen for 60+ people so took 1 hr and 20 minutes to get served by the 2 waitresses who didn't know how to add up a check properly. 4 of the 5 checks were all priced incorrectly by a lot. The location looks like a bombed out war zone. Awful experience with 6 adults and 7 children who were all looking forward to having a good time eating in a train car.
