Please be aware, owner does keep a couple of older dogs (but they're old boyes, so they're chill) in the store.
Phenomenal selection of books, reasonably priced. Owner is very friendly and open to chatting about the store and was thinking about offering student discount days.
We just found Brant's on our last visit to Sarasota and am so glad we did! They have so many books, you can get lost in the store. We were looking for specific items and found exactly what we were wanting! The shop owner has two dogs, Max and Elvis; two of the sweetest dogs anyone could ever meet. My daughter fell in love with them and wanted to take them both home with us.
The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about all of the books there. She goes out of her way to make your experience there memorable. They have a lot of rare or first edition books and hard to find copies. Everything is very reasonably priced. I love this bookstore. Keep Sarasota local!!!!!
Oldest (1957) and probably the largest used bookstore in Florida. Family owned and 2nd generation operated by incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff. Elvis (the dog) will warmly greet you upon arrival. You can spend a lot of time wandering thru the winding passages of books and eclectic things displayed. Lots and lots of wonderful vintage items for sale. You will never experience a bookstore like this one! Bargains galore!!
She has a nice selection of first edition books, as well as regular volumes. My daughter is an aspiring med student and there was quite a selection of medical books, more than we've seen in other used book stores. She also has a very nice Florida section, as well.

The owner was very friendly and helpful to us. We have shopped in other used bookstores in the downtown Sarasota area, but we will definitely be returning to Brant's Used Books the next time we are in town.
