I love this book store! The place is always neat, clean, and organized and the owner Lee is fabulous! She's always extremely friendly and very helpful. At times when I go there her 3 children will be there with her and they are so beautiful and well mannered. Plus Lee always keeps the shelves in the store well stocked with many new releases and best sellers and a few oldies as well. (All in good condition too!) This is definitely my favorite place to go to look for a good used book! I always find new treasures when I stop by..... If you love reading books and you haven't been here yet you should definitely check this cozy little book store out!!! You won't regret it I assure you.
I read the amazing reviews about Something About a Book and HAD to stop in while visiting Sarasota. It was exactly as the reviews before me had said. Phenomenal owners who have vast knowledge about books as well as Sarasota itself. I am so glad that I made time for Something About a Book during my trip.

So I stopped by Something About a Book today 09/01/2017 and realized that the store is completely empty and has been gutted. It looks like someones remodeling. So I'm not sure if the owners are just remodeling and then their gonna re-open the book store once the remodeling is finished or if their actually closed down for good.....? :( I really hope they haven't closed for good because they are the best used book store in the area. Plus the owner Lee is so kind. Hopefully they will be re-opening. If anyone knows what's going on with the store please let us loyal customers know. Thank you and hope all is well...

I've been buying paperbacks here for a few years, by two particular authors I like, Diane Mott Davidson and David Baldacci. The owner is very nice and knowledgeable. She has a wide selection of both paper and hard bound books by a variety of authors. She also buys and buys back books.
It was not obvious that I had arrived at something about books because the signage needs updating...it says Jan's Paperbacks. I like that the store is tidy and is well organized by genre then author...very good selection of trade books (my personal preference) but the condition of some not worth 1/2 price from my perspective. I will return with my "need" list. Attendant was friendly and that counts a lot!
