I enjoyed driving the Toyota Corrolla very much. It was a great deal from Alamo. The attendant was very knowledgeable and friendly. I will return to Alamo regularly.
I rent rather regularly, have always experienced friendly, helpful employees. This rental, although the car was clean it smelled of smoke. I reported this upon return, mostly to avoid being the one to be charged with it and because I was surprised it was returned to the rental fleet smelling like that. I also think, like the proverbial toilet seat up/down issue, it would be best to move the seats back - easier for all to get in and easier to move up than not be able to get in to move it back.
The car I got from Alamo, was nice, clean and roomy. No problem with the car. The problem I have is that I upgraded to a bigger car online and when I went to pick it up I was told by the desk manager that if I had upgraded in person, it would have only cost me 10.00 as opposed to the 141.82 I was charged by doing it online. I was also promised the car in 8 minutes when I signed the agreement at the desk and when we went outside, it was 40 minutes until the car was ready. They brought the wrong car to us and then the VIN number didn't match up... so they went searching for the right car. 40 minutes later the car arrived. All in all the reservation process was easy, the wait was way too long and the customer service was horrible when I tried to find out why it cost me 131.82 more than if I had just done the upgrade to a larger car in person. Also, bad business in my mind when a desk manager tells you that you could have save you the money and then charges you the full amount. Just a weird way of doing business. All I got from customer service was, "I don't know why the desk manager would say that to you." I don't know either and will take my business elsewhere in the future. If you decide to go with Alamo, don't upgrade online, do it in person and save yourself a ton of money.
We have been renting vehicles from Alamo for years. Our last rental was for the month of October while vacationing in the Sarasota area. The entire staff at this location are fantastic and so accommodating in every way. You will not be disappointed in using Alamo Rentals.
2nd time using Alamo at SRQ airport, quick service, no pressure tactics or tricks to worry about, great Nissan SUV, good price, easy return, all together great experience! :)
